INTERFEM invites women, non-binary, and transgender members (become a member) who experience racialization to participate in a workshop taking off in minority stress during 23-25 August 2024 in Helsinki, Finland. During this weekend we will focus on areas concerning minority stress and work on tools to manage and care for mental health.
Minority Stress is a concept that refers to the unique stress experienced by individuals from marginalized groups due to societal discrimination, prejudice and systematic inequalities. It encompasses external stressors, expectations of rejection, and internalized stigma. Stress responses can manifest psychologically, leading to anxiety and depression, and may also impact physical health and behavior. INTERFEM believes that understanding and addressing Minority Stress is crucial for promoting well-being and creating supportive environments for marginalized individuals.
INTERFEM has for the past eight years established a network of racialized women, non-binary and transgender activists. We have witnessed that some of our Nordic experiences are the same, some are quite different. We have learnt a lot through sharing experiences and together we have a massive amount of combined knowledge that we aim to share with each other. The aim of this network meeting is also to strengthen the Nordic network for racialized women, non-binary and transgender activists in Åland, Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Norway, Sápmi and Sweden.
